How about 'limited' rather than 'closed'? We pick a bunch of sites -
how many depends on the product among other factors - and monitor them
constantly. As mentioned elsewhere, this requires lots of bandwidth on
both the customer and the beta engineer's time - simply not enough extra
to open early testing to a broad audience. We do our best to assure
that we don't do 'closed' testing, and I hope noone accuses us of being
even remotely like Windows 95.
