Check the DIP switches on the Sportsters, to see if they're set to return
the "OK" result code.

Telnet to the Portmaster, use the "attach" command to connect to the modem
port, and type in the init string manually. Does the modem return "OK"?
If not, then double check the DIP switches, or you've got a bad modem.
