I wouldn't go as far as Alexander did in blaming Microsoft, though I love
to hate them!

We saw this exact same thing a while back and searched the net finding only
useless "Uninstall the dial-up adaptor and re-install it" type comments. I
finally found one that said "don't do anything". Wait a while and have
them try it again.

The 2nd one works almost all the time (Don't stop reading here!)

I simply can't believe that one week we would get 2 a day and then the next
week we got 5-6 a day, due simply to the phase of the moon.

I found that we had a stale secondary radius server listed that no longer
was running the service.

I do not believe that this was the root of the problem but I do think it
goes to the real answer.

I believe that the real cause is that the radius if failing completely and
this is the message the user gets. I don't know if it helped but I ran the
radiusd at a lower run level (higher priority) and changed all secondary
radius servers to a real radius server.

Does ANYONE know what message the user gets when the radius authentication
simply fails because the request is not answered in time when wsing Windows
95? I have some indications that it is the "TCP/IP error can't establish"
message. I further read somewhere that this message is the default message
if Windows 95 fails for some unknown reason... Though I have heard that
message is really "you have been disconnected from the computer you have
dialed"...

Now I don't want to get off on a rant here... but I wish Microsoft would
stop implying our services suck with such a, blame deflecting, message like
"you have been disconnected from the computer you have dialed" when the
user simply can't connect due to, most likely, a bad phone line or modem.
