That is configurable 'set broadcast high|low'

Default is low for historical reasons. (Namely that's how it was always
done in the old days. ;-) )

Since it is undefined behavior - ie is not supposed to be allowed to happen -
I really don't know if it would show up in the routing table on the impacted
unit.

Probably not actually, since the local route will be prefered to the learned
route. But it may should up in the routing tables of OTHER units - or in
the ARP table if it is local.

Well, looks like right now you aren't doing any dynamic routing on the
ethernet port.
