Once upon a time Robin Dua shaped the electrons to say...
>We currently have a major problem with modems going into "admin" and
>"down" mode during peak usage. We are currently using 3.7.1.

Right - which is why you shouldn't be using 3.7.1 anymore.

>Its unfortunate that Livingston is incapable of releasing a patch to fix
>this problem. If it was Cisco, their engineers would be working around the

Hello - that is what 3.7.2 is! You mention it and you know it is the
fix, then you say it is too bad we're incapable of releasing a fix????

>Most products progress with new releases, but the PM3s keep degenerating
>with each new ComOS release. Fast busy's, spontaneous rebooting, loss of
>connectivity, and disconnects are all wonderful benefits of owning a PM3.

Note that if you watch Cisco lists and newsgroups, the AS5200 hasn't
been perfect either.

And the fact of the matter is the number of issues with the PM-3 had
DECLINED with new releases. The total number of people experiencing
any problems have dropped. Many times fixing a large bug - like ADMIN -
'unmasks' smaller issues that were there but unseen because of the
larger issue. So then you address those. Overall a very small number of
sites are reporting reboots, and we are aggressively tracking that issue
and trying to catch it. We need to see it before we can fix it.

Connectity rates are UP, connect speeds are UP, throughput is UP, and
disconnects are WAY DOWN. There are a relatively small number of sites
still with issues. And individual issues are less serious, and fewer
in total number of reports.

There has never, to my knowledge, been a 100% bug free computer or networking
product. But the PortMaster family are some of the best I have ever seen
in this regard.
