Our local PTT guru has a possible solution - you might want to explore this
avenue with your telco. We will try it out if feasible, so no results yet -
anyway, he says:
- its possible to define a hunt group as an 'inter-office trunk', which
gives more knobs to turn at the telco side.
- One knob might be defining hunt groups consisting just of, say, 20 B
channels on PRI x (because you happen to have 20 modems on PRI x), have
several such channel groups become a long hunt group (but always not more
than 20 per PRI!), AND at this point have the bearer capability associated
with that hunt group.
- And you define 2 of these bearer-capability-triggered hunt groups - one
for voice, and one for 64K transparent (for PPP over HDLC).
So the theory. Any SS7 hackers out there daring to comment?
