Bay Networks basically share power off of the same backplane (for their 2
different physical modem cards) and nothing more. It is a farse that they
are misleading people to believe that they are delivering something that
allows a single number dial in pool for X2 or K56Flex, that is _not_ what
they are delivering.

>> and I would love to see Livingston support both X2 and K56Flex.

We might do that if it were possible. By license (from either party) with
either X2 or K56Flex we're not allowed to run both protocols on the same
physical hardware ie.. modem board. We chose K56Flex due to its ~70%
marketshare support with Lucent/Rockwell client/OEM modem partners.

So

Again we're limited by factors out of our control so that this cannot
realistically be considered.
