The power supply is a rather straight-forward switching supply with
very much standard ratings for what ever that's worth. If one realy
truely understands electronics, one can purchase power supplies from
several sources that will work just fine.

As mentioned privately to the original poster however, we've seen at
least a couple of pm2's with the same type symptoms and the problem
was NOT the power supply, but rather a couple of defective IC's (the
ones interfacing to the rs232 connectors) that were draining the
power supply.
