IRX w/#'d Wan Ports

Just took a first look at a network we're taking over.

The router that they're using has assigned ip numbers to each WAN port, and
assigned destination IP's also.

As I understand it this requires a subnet for each WAN each connected WAN
link.

So as I see it with this example

|router1| ether 207.1.1.1 WAN IP 207.1.2.1 destination 207.1.2.5
|router2| ether 207.1.3.1 WAN IP 207.1.2.2 destination 207.1.2.6
|router3| ether 207.1.5.1 WAN IP 207.1.2.3 destination 207.1.2.7
|router4| ether 207.1.7.1 WAN IP 207.1.2.4 destination 207.1.2.8

All of these are running into:
|big router| ether 207.1.8.1
WAN1 IP 207.1.2.5 destination 207.1.2.1
WAN2 IP 207.1.2.6 destination 207.1.2.2
WAN3 IP 207.1.2.7 destination 207.1.2.3
WAN4 IP 207.1.2.8 destination 207.1.2.4

Each of course connected to the appropriate WAN connection .
Can't the same thing be done without numbered WAN ports ? That would save
a subnet correct ? Just by specifying destination and not numbering each
of the ports. Or is their a benefit to this that i'm missing here?

Quite possible considering I'm on 15 days and no smokes :-)

Working on 4 diff. IRX WAN's at the same time could make me start
again......Naaaaahhh
