Dial your Portmaster.
Log in as you would via telnet ( user !root and password whateveryouuse )
(Using the "terminal window" in Mac's OpenTransport/PPP--the handiest
terminal window on this particular machine--but certainly not a good one, I
get bursts of garble which don't seem to affect what follows.)
show netcon
Locate the session on port 23 (unless you've moved your telnet to port nnnn).
Look at the left column...that number is the "handle".
reset n<handle>...
eg
reset n37
Consider allowing more than one telnet session so you can get out of this
mess more easily in the future. If you do, you'll see a listening session
on port 23 (or whatever you moved telnet to) when you look at show netcon,
in addition to the active one(s). That's where the next telnet session
will "land".
