True. I should have added that CRC errors will occur if the drivers
aren't keeping up with the modems and are dropping characters. If you
lower the port speed and CRC errors drop, that's a sure sign :-)

Yep. It made sense back then -- adding enough of a processor to the
modem to do MNP5 was expensive. I'll never forgive Rockwell for RPI
though. Must have saved them 50 cents in silicon per modem :-)
