Been watching the list about this we've got our 56k's running (#2) and
while we've had a problem with a few modems. WinModems, MWave (enough
said) most of our probs have been with 14.4's. Haven't seen a lot of
issues with USR modems like others have said.
Obviously we just have a different mix of modems running in this neck of
the woods.

Granted we had a 99% success rate with the old modems, only init strings we
had to use was with the 56k modems. I'm sure it's not anything we did here
that's different than anyone else. About the only thing I can figure is
that we told all of our clients not to by a modem upgrade unitl the new
modems came out. Most appreciated the input. Now that they are out we've
had a flurry of requests for upgrade info. Once again we're telling them to
hold off until we here back from Hayes, Diamond, etc...
