I STRONGLY suggest that you add the ability to do this. I have sold about 8
PM2I routers to customers that connect to us on one port and use the other
ports to let their employees dial into the corporate network. Also, at
least two of these customers want to be able to have bandwidth on demand
using more than one BRI line (2-6 B channels MAX) If they are using two
channels to connect to us, they are NOT going to like hearing that I can
offer them compression, but not with the $3000 box that they just bought
because it is the older generation. Limit the compression settings to a
maximum of 4 ports. That would be fine with me. Syntax could be as follows:

pm2i> set s0 stac on

STAC Compression on S0 changed from disabled to enabled

pm2i> set s1 stac on

STAC Compression on S1 changed from disabled to enabled

pm2i> set s2 stac on

STAC Compression on S2 changed from disabled to enabled

pm2i> set s3 stac on

STAC Compression on S3 changed from disabled to enabled

pm2i> set s4 stac on

Maximum number of STAC ports has been reached S4 STAC not changed

pm2i>

I think this would make the few people that really need it only on a few
ports happy. I promise I won't complain when it doesn't work on a PM2eI
with 30 B Channels. Maybe just make it dynamic. If their are already 4
channels using STAC, then anyone else trying to negotiate it will be
NAK'ed. Please consider this since I feel that it should be implemented if
technically possible. Even on 2 ports, it would make a difference. Thanks!

btw- 1:10AM Wednesday EST and still no sign of 3.7 on the FTP site... I'm
VERY curious to start experimenting with a couple of OR-U routers.
