Is this prompt proceeded by RARP requests? If so then you are at the

Sounds like the data in the flash may be corrupt, not necessarily the
physical flash chips.
I would netboot, erase the flash

When the physical flash chip/s become corrupt you will often see a

"Write error on Download" message &&AND&& Attemptting to reformat the flash
will freeze the PortMaster (requiring another netboot).

If this is the case call Livingston Technical Support and they will verify
if it damaged flash. Often you will have a corrupt image of some sort and
Tech Support will be able to remotely service the box in the field without
having to bring it in for RMA.

To fix a physically damaged flash the PortMaster has to be brought in as an
RMA. The flash chips are soldered onto the main board thus this hardware
cannot be serviced in the field.
