PM3 Lucent Modem Cards in Europe

Hi,

I don't like to moan ( honest! ), but I just read on the
Livingston site that E1 supporting countries will START to receive
their modem upgrades in 90 days..... I am not sure that we can keep
telling our customers "soon" for that period of time. I understand
that the code has to be modified for the u-law conversion that we use
over here, but surely that cannot be that difficult - a few numbers in
a table somewhere?

Totally aside from our users who have already purchased 56K
modems and want to use them, we have a catalogue of other problems
with a high percentage of users which is costing us real money ( we
are having to keep a set of analog lines with USR Couriers on for
people who cannot use our PM3s ) and customers. I am sure that others
have experienced these:

1) Line drops.... A very high percentage of users suffer these on the
PM3s, but NOT on the USRs.

2) Connect failures.... although with the latest ComOS ( 3.5.1b20 )
admittedly total connect failures are mainly PC-Tel modems, which I
know there are new drivers for. There are, however, a few others which
struggle.

3) Several people have reported that their modem fails to connect at
the first attempt, but then connects OK if they immediately dial back.

4) There seem to be a few poeple who connect fine, but then you cannot
even ping them from the PM3... very wierd one that.

So, are there, or will there be, any more ComOS upgrades which
include slightly more tolerant modem code ( especially as far as line
drops go ) before we get our Lucent cards, and secondly, is 90 days a
realistic figure or is it just bet hedging on Livingston's part? )
