Yes, (probably). That's how the old cards work.

Unfortunately, it's a command whose syntax differs in the two modem brands
I've tried.

In my SupraExpress 56e (Mac), it's

AT+MS=V34,1,2400,33600\13

and it seems to have to be separated from the line in the OpenTransport/PPP
script which initializes the modem. That forces V.34, and allows a speed
range of 2400 up to 33600. [I think...that's how I read the manual and how
it acts.]

I added a new loop which sends that and checks the result, copied from the
one which sends the init string and checks the result.

The syntax in the Global Village family for the +MS command differs, and I
don't have it at hand. I seem to recall code numbers for the protocol.
