Once upon a time Larry Vaden shaped the electrons to say...
>If a PM2e30 is upgraded to ComOs 3.5, rebooted, ifconfig'd with a /27
>netmask, save all, reboot, which is true (given that:
>
>1. the portmaster operates correctly using the /27 netmask on ether0
>2. the portmaster operates using the /24 netmask displayed by ifconfig

#2.

ifconfig is NOT a way to change settings permanently. You *must* use the
'set ether0 netmask x.x.x.x' convention. ifconfig will change it for that
session, but it will revert to the saved configuration after a reboot.
ifconfig changes it only on the active interface, not in FLASH - and a save
will not save it.

Also, we strongly discourage the use of the netmask table with 3.5 and up.
