should a PM3 know its MAC address?

Did anyone take a look at arp packets on his segment already? My PM 3
(running ComOS 3.5c6) is asking all the time for his own MAC address
(e.g. 15:35:43.371154 0:c0:5:4:4:ca ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff arp 60: arp who-has pm.bonn.netsurf.de (ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff) tell pm.bonn.netsurf.de)
and I don't really consider this to be a feature. Should I ask support@?
