RE: Net boot with BSD/OS

The problem is that in order to use rarpd with BSD/OS, FreeBSD, NetBSD
you MUST have Berkeley Packet Filters (/dev/bpf0) compiled into your
kernel !!!

In freebsd (I assume it is the same in BSD/OS) in your
/usr/src/sys/i386/conf/{CONFIG FILE NAME} file you must include :

pseudo-device bpfilter x (where x is the number of bpf devices you wish
to use.) and then re-compile the kernel

If it is compiled into the kernel you need to do (in the /dev) directory
./MAKEDEV bpf0 to create the special device. These are probably slightly
different for BSD/OS as I only know FreeBSD...
