This was discussed several days ago. Livingston is currently using 512
bytes for their V.42Bis dictionary. They will increase this to 2048 bytes
soon.

Livingston says that this is what is causing the latency problems.

Some users on this list turned off data compression, and reported that the
latency was much better.

As soon as Livingston releases the new modem code that uses 2048 bytes for
the V.42Bis dictionary, latency should be better.
