Similar problems, I dare say.
I used to work in Boston on various network projects. The biggest
one was NEARNet's link heading west. It went from Cambridge to
the top of our building, the highest point to the west of Boston.
When the heavy weather came in, NEARNet trouble tickets started flying.
Many people were very happy when then upgraded this to fiber.
Microwave and IR were used to link various campuses around Boston
because getting permission to put stuff in the ground was very difficult.
The military uses microwave links down your way and I am sure they've
developed a lot of data on the subject. How to get it out of them,
I do not know. They also do IR and would have similar stats.
