This must be Netscape Personal Edition - the one with the dialer and all.
Careful, when you say 'Netscape' it is usually associated with 'Netscape
Navigator' the browser.

I don't know what it tries to do - I've just recently ordered a copy so I
can test it actually.

It works by default. If the user can use a chat script, they can use PAP.
CHAP is on, but requires the password be stored in /etc/raddb/users in
cleartext - you can't use 'UNIX' with CHAP.
