We don't use the "Livingston-style" detail files here at Merit, but
it might make sense to have the Merit version treat them the same as
the RADIUS logfile is treated. What do people think?

BTW the logfile is truncated daily, renamed and compress with your
favourite compression program (specified at compile time). This process
can be specified at compile time to happen weekly instead of daily,
and on any day of the week, if weekly.
