Dr. Flesh stated so eloquently and profoundly:
#
# I found that Multi-Tech fit that bill perfectly. I use their ZDX line of
# modems, and got a decent deal through their BBS program ($175.00 for the
# 2834ZDX). The odd thing is, they have their "ISP" program for all of
# their rackmount models. These rackmounts are absolutely gorgeous. I would
# LOVE to have them. They have amazing features, BUT they end up being 2X
# more than the ZDX's, and I just can't afford it.
#

I have the 2834 rack mount series and couldn't recommend them
enough. They do run about $500/modem when you price it all out (for 48
modems in a 16 slot chassis). Redundant power supplies and SNMP
management make these beauties a charm.

I've seen the 2834 racks talking to MultiTech 2834ZDX's with a 28.8
carrier lasting 10+ days... hard to find that with many modems.
