The best way to do this would be to allow the application of a filter
to the activity timeout (the same way you can do it to ptrace). This
would allow you to filter out everything but, say, telnet, FTP and WWW
traffic. You should also be able to completely ignore ICMP traffic if
you want.
It would be a *huge* blessing.
