We have been using the Motorola Bitsurfr device line for a few months with
various revs of the "prom" chips. We are having fairly good success with
this technique on our side of things. We do heavy UUCP and a lot of PPP
as well. Performance is good.

I've also seen this device in another box called the "TA220".

Where we have problems is almost always on the customer's side of things.
We have trouble with their serial port, their serial cable, their fifo
settings, and their drivers. Some beta testers report improved performance
after upgrading to Windows95 (for what its worth :-) ).
