Some people are still asking me about what the modem init strings are
to get a 14.4 Motorola Power PMCIA modem card to work, so I'm posting
my results here for everybody to see:

In order to get the Motorola Power 14.4 PCMCIA modem to work with
Winstock, you will need to edit the default LOGIN.CMD file. Specifically the
line: $modemsetup = "&c1&k3"

From: $modemsetup = "&c1&k3"

To: $modemsetup = "&f&c1/q3"

This string was causing an error with the modem.

I would still not recommend Motorola brands (personal opinion), because of
all of the problems your customers may incur (fax programs screwing up
winsock, procomm plus messing up your modem settings and saving the changes,
etc. note: these are all specific to the motorola brand. any other brand
doesn't conflict with various programs.) but the Megahertz XJACK (14.4 or 28.8)
appears to be better. At least it runs with our standard login.cmd out of
the box. We haven't run into any other brands causing problems yet, but
will give it a try. I've also tried out winsock 2.1f (you have to pay for
each copy this time) and it didn't solve anything. The only real difference
is in 2.1f you get fancy dialog windows popping up telling your customers
whether their connection has succeeded or failed. Upgrading still doesn't
help fix some problems.
