Password Override

UPDATE: December 19,2000

If you have lost or forgotten your password:

For Contract Customers:

  1. Have a terminal connected to s0 with a null modem cable and dip switch 1 raised.
  2. Contact the Lucent InterNetworking Systems Technical Support Hotline at (800) 458-9966.
  3. Login as !root and enter the Password 'override'. This will return a 16-character challenge.
  4. Pass this challenge to the Technical Support person. He/She will generate a response.
  5. Login as !root again, this time the password is the response given to you by the technical support engineer. You should now be logged in.
  6. Use the 'set password' command followed by the password of your choice to change the !root password.

For NON- Contract Customers

Send an email to "override@ra.lucent.com" with only the challenge string in the body of the email. Make sure to disable any signature files on your email client before sending the email. Inserting the word "help" in the body of the email will return an email with detailed instructions on this procedure.
