Dial Out Numbered IP


Situation:  A dial up connection from a Lucent PortMaster (TM) product to a Point To Point numbered connection.  The other end assigns your PortMaster an IP address that is different from its ether0 address. The location table entry on the PortMaster must reflect this or link negotiation will fail.

Example: An Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Office Router called "or-u", dialing to a server called "bob". "Bob" wants to assign you IP address 149.198.146.1, that is different from "or-u's" ether0 address. Use the following commands to set the IP address:

or-u> set location bob local_ip 149.198.146.1
bob local ip address changed from 0.0.0.0 to 149.198.146.1
or-u> save all
