ComOS 3.8.2c2 Modem IssuesThis technical bulletin provides information regarding modem software releases for the ComOS 3.8.2c2 for the PortMaster 3. ComOS 3.8.2c2 address most modem disconnection and connection problems. However, after you have upgraded to the new ComOS version, your customers on Win95 and Win98 operating systems who are experiencing failures must limit the upper threshold speed of their modems with Rockwell HCF chipsets to a speed equal to or less than 41.3Kbps. Instruct your customers to do one of the following to limit HCF aggressive speed retrains as the modems attempt to determine a satisfactory speed for marginal customer facilities. Enter Commas When Dialing In When the customer dials the connection number, he or she can place 4 to 5 commas immediately after the telephone number-for example, 5551212,,,,,. The commas will limit the connection speed to eliminate the retrain problem. Change Their PC Settings Instruct the customer to follow these steps:
