I've noticed that when you see those periods, it's because the last
disconnect was usually caused by a modem failure on the Portmaster. Watch
the stats for that modem by doing a sh m3. I'll bet that after a while you
will see that there are a lot more calls on it than on the others. Don't
rely on the sh modem command, because you can't tell how many calls the
modem has taken that it didn't detect a modem on the other end.
