Actually LT Winmodems have a chipset made by Lucent. There is very little
'design' in making and LT Winmodem, read the manual, buy the chips, stick
them on a board, get the software from Lucent and you're in business. Now
I don't have any problems with LT modems since Lucent released V5.39 of
the modem software and 3.8.2c2 of COMOs. Similarly HCF modems with recent
software seem to work OK with 3.8.2c2 (especially if you do what Livingston
say). USR winmodems, well 3Com would probably say they work vvery well with
USR TC stuff.
