I have 2 PM3s running 3.8.2(Upgrading Sat.). These PM3s are connected to
4 PRIs. There is only one telephone number for all 4 PRI's. We get dinged by
Pac Bell for each telephone number we tie back to our Centrex block. The
switch is currently hunting sequentially on incoming calls. I have OSPF set up
to handle dedicated IP users and to route small IP blocks when users dial in.
Everything works fine for dial in.
I'd like to do dial on demand. My thinking is to configure the least used
PM3 for this, since there is a much greater chance that a port will be free for
this.
I set the user up, turn on "on-demand" and the PM3 broadcasts a route for
the subnet, as it should.
Now for the question: Suppose the client router decides to dial in and
it connects to the first PM3? What happens to the routes? Is there any way I
can make this work with PM3s?
It was suggested to me to see if I can attach different metrics to the
routes. The dial in route have have a higher preference than the one
advertised by the "on-demand" route. That way, the Cisco would send traffic to
whichever PM3 had the actual connection.
I can't quite see how to do this with a PM3. Any suggestions?
