It doesn't matter. We've got a stack of 16 of them tight together.
Airflow is from front to back, and they run quite cool.

Beware, the rack ears are typically a bit out of tolerance. Once you
rack up more than about four of them you'll notice that they're a bit too
long. Livingscent probably spec'ed the dimension before the brackets were
powder coated. File the paint off of the top and bottom and they'll fit.
