Re: (PM) plagued with disconnects

Don't trust the disconnect reasons shown from doing a "show modems".
>From what I've seen, they're not accurate. My PM3s show the disconnect
reasons a lot like yours--mostly CIRCUIT DISCONNECT, followed by LAPM
DISCONNECT, and occasionally a few others (LOST CARRIER, LAPM RETRY
LIMIT, etc.). In spite of the huge number of CIRCUIT DISCONNECTs I see
in "show mod", I rarely have customers complain about being
disconnected. Either they're not getting disconnected, or they're just
not reporting it. If you want an more accurate report of terminate
causes either look at the syslog or RADIUS. There are scripts out there
to parse both of these files, and return the terminate reasons, and
their percentages. Chris Adams recently posted the following URL where
you can download his script that will parse either syslog or RADIUS
detail. Here's the URL again:

As for your disconnect problems, have you checked your lines (show
line0, show line1)? I started getting a few people complaining of
random disconnects the other day. I checked my lines, and found that
one had some errors, but had stabilized. The other was racking up
errors with no end in sight--Bipolars, CRCs, Multiframe syncs, all were
running like you wouldn't believe. I called the telco, and they said
everything looked fine on their end, so I power cycled the PM3, and the
problem disappeared. Weird.
