To do this use two modems, you actually create a new physical
connection, each connection is responsible for its negotiation.
LOAD INETCFG
*** Creating the Modem(s)
Select BOARDS
<Press Insert>
<Press W> - Select the WHSMAIO device.
Assign a board name.
At AIO Board Options, select Yes to automatically load the driver and
select the relevant driver. (WHSMAIO for Modems).
Save this.
*** Configuring for PPP ***
At the main INETCFG menu select Network Interfaces.
Select your unconfigured modem and choose PPP Routing.
At this point select the Modem/DCE type and a telephone number.
Save the changes.
**** Configuring Multilink ****
At the main INETCFG menu select WAN CALL DIRECTORY.
Press insert to create a new call.
Now change the call type if required.
Select the interface name, configure passwords, remote and local system
ID and telephone number.
Go to Multilink Configuration and select this.
You need to change the number of links that you wish to use, 1 for each
device.
Select the Interface/Group name and insert your second modem or
ISDN device.
And select a new phone number. If you are dialing the same number set
Multiple calls to yes.
NOTE:
<<<Analog modems require that you have an additional phone line.
When using analog modems with Multilink, you set up the first modem to
use the first phone line. Then in Multilink Configuration, set the 'Total
Member Links' at 2, set the 'Interface/Group Name' as the second
modem, select the 'Phone Number Configuration' and press the <Insert>
key which will allow you to specify the second telephone number.
<Leave the other two settings at their default settings.>>>
Press ESC to save the configuration.
Keep in mind that secondary interfaces, whether part of a group or a
pair, cannot be individually controlled in CALLMGR nor do they show
as connected. You can tell by looking in PPPTRACE in REAL TIME
MONITOR to see if both (or more) interfaces are connected. You can
also go into PPPCON -> PPP Interfaces -> select the primary interface
-> PPP Multilink Group Information, to verify that both lines are active.
