(PM) xDSL and cable modem threat

I agree with you, DSL won't be a threat for a while simple because the cost
is too high. But really it depends on your market. Most of my market has
only one phone line (house line they use for voice and modem) and they are
happy with the sub-$20 / month access fee. We even have "happy" customers
who still use 14.4 modems to surf the net! I suspect that these people
won't be switching to aDSL or cable modems any time soon.

The real DSL market is the business or power user who probably already has a
second line for data (maybe two for MultiPPP :-), uses the fastest
K56flex/V.90 modem he can find, and maybe even has an ISDN line. I suspect
that these people wouldn't mind paying $40 /month for their xDSL or cable
modem connection. I just don't see many of these in our market yet. That's
really good because we still have a big investment in PM3's and PRI
installations. =)
