Subject: Re: (PM) Modem Code
I've got the same problems with 3.8. I can watch the Modem speed and observe
the customers outbound channel constantly switching between two speeds (i
think it was 26400 and 28800) then eventually die. Of course on the
customers end it appears to them that they get connected and can't do
anything. Their downstream channel connects at 49K most of the time, but the
upstream is having the problems. One of them is a USR Sportster, I don't
know what the other one is using, he said it was a modem that came with his
CTX brand box.
I've got a ticket open on my 3.8.2 problems where I have to reboot it every
3 days, but I haven't had a call back on it in a few days. Supposedly it got
passed off to a "more technical" person. I'd love to try out 3.8.2 instead
since I understand the modem code is supposed to be superior. But I can't
deal with having to reboot every few days because it stops giving people
network connections. It was definitely an "all the sudden" type problem,
since the support calls would start rolling in out of nowhere when the
problem appeared. I'd look at the PM3 and notice a definite lack of users
online, have someone try to login like 5 times in a row with no success.
Then reboot and it would be fine for a few days. Anyone else seen this and
know what the problem might be? Here's my info for the PM3:
---------------------- line0 - T1 Primary Rate ISDN ---------------
Status: UP Framing: ESF Encoding: B8ZS PCM: u-law
Receive Level: -7.5dB to -15dB
---------------------- line1 - T1 Primary Rate ISDN ---------------
Status: UP Framing: ESF Encoding: B8ZS PCM: u-law
Receive Level: -7.5dB to -15dB
PPP Authentication: PAP: on CHAP: on
ISDN Switch Type: ni-2
End Point Disc: None
Disabled Modules: IPX OSPF BGP
I got a brainstorm one day and thought it might have been SNMP, but then
someone smacked that theory down because they weren't having problems with
SNMP enabled..
shrug..
