This thread is far too big, especially for a list that theoretically
is composed of experienced network operators. Your SMTP server
doesn't do "telnet". Your POP server doesn't do "telnet". Most
telnet clients have a feature that allows you to use them to talk to
non-telnet services, but that should not be confused with talking
to something that actually implements the TELNET protocol (RFC854).
ComOS doesn't implement that feature, but that doesn't mean they
didn't do a good job on telnet. Telnet works fine. There are plenty
of other telnet clients that don't have this feature.. try the crappy
one that comes with Windows 95.
