As with Rockwell-Modems, analogue 56K-Modems can't communicate with each
other at higher speeds than 33600bps. If a 56K-Modem is to estblish a
connection at more than 33600bps you need a digital device at the other end
of the line.

As I said before, you need a digital device to be able to provide for
56K-connections with modems. If you want to go for a USR (3Com) product, get
the Courier I-Modem.
