Seems _many_ of the USR winmodems haven't gotten a newer v.90 release.
Kind of smells fishy to me, since the standard was ratified in Sept 98 and
nothing newer has been released, though they claim v.90 compliancy... Are
they trying to kill of other NAS?

If it is the 5/98 firmware, then use &Nx in extra settings. On my
cousin's POS USR Winmodem, I had to limit it to 36000, joy.
