Is /usr/i486-linux-libc5/ in your /etc/ld.so.conf ?

If on my debian system I do an ldd on filterd I get:

$ ldd filterd
libgdbm.so.1 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libgdbm.so.1 (0x40011000)
libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5 (0x40017000)

See what your "ldd" says.

Mike.
