I've seen this problem many times. Usually it's a sign of the customer
either using the wrong Win95 CD, or installing a newer DUN (1.1 or 1.2)
then trying to go back by installing the older DUN without first
uninstalling 1.1 or 1.2. Another possibility is the customer installed a
newer (or older) version of Win95 over a previous version.

The best thing to do here is to go into Windows Setup and uncheck Dial-Up
Networking. Apply the changes and restart the computer. Next, go back in
Windows Setup and Check Dial-Up Networking. Apply and restart. In some
cases I've had to do this twice before it would work. (Uncheck DUN and
check it again, with a restart in between each) When it's installing the
files, make sure you click "No" so you don't keep any of the files
existing. Regardless of whether they're newer or not, they won't work!

As long as he clicks "No" to any prompt asking if he'd like to Keep a newer
version of the file, he should be ok.
