Scott,
As you probably know I am not a lucent developer. Instead I have
been doing flight analysis programming and simulation programming on the B-2
bomber program for the past 5 years. I think I might have an understanding
of how software deployment works.
I agree that while one step forward and two back doesn't make much
sense, however b16 may solve problems unique to my situation and break stuff
I don't even need or use. I mean if they broke RIP that could be a
catastrophe for many users, however if I only use BGP or OSPF, what do I
care.
I know that if I held up flight test for 60 days because my code
didn't work and I refused to release a new "beta", I would be replaced.
Flight testing aircraft is expensive and even a one day delay can cost
millions of dollars.
In closing I agree with your statement below, don't ever use beta
software unless you are confident you can handle the consequences.
