(PM) Disconnects

[PM3 | 3.7.2 | PRI | DMS100 | B8ZS | ESF]

This box has been humming along merrily for some time now, *NO*
troubles. All of a sudden, over the last two days or so, I started
getting a *lot* of complaints of dropped connections and crappy
downloads. `sh line0' came up all zeroes, but I noticed that, on
average, connection speeds were *significantly* lower.

TS had me to do a power-off reboot this morning to reset the PRI.
Connection speeds seem to be back to normal, but something is still
not quite right. The termination cause *has* been predominantly "LAPM
DISCONNECT" but is now "LOST CARRIER" AND "CIRCUIT DISCONNECT." There
is even one modem with 123 retrains since this morning!

This circuit does not originate at the local CO, but is backhauled
from the next town over (no digital switch here). Is is possible that
there is trouble on the first leg of the circuit that is not showing
up on the PM3's error counters, or does the PM3 see all and know all?
TS suggested upgrading to c3 because of the improved modem code, but
I don't think that's the answer... Something else is wrong here.

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott
