I had a chance to experience this firsthand today when I was at a client's
site. I had dialed in to check email, and my first thought was "cool,
45K! This is great!" It was so damn slow that it felt like 2400bps!

Not all the time - it seemed very "bursty". I went to our website and
watched what happened. I'd be pulling down images at 5.5Kb according to
Netscape, then boom - nothing for 5, 10, 15 seconds, then the data would
start up again.

This was with a USR V.90 Sportster and ComOS 3.8b15.

This has also been reported with a V.90 Global Village modem and a
Zook 56K v.90.

Collisions on the network, which had been mentioned, seem a little high...

...but the 2 PM2's on the same network don't bog down at all, even the one
with the 2 5-BRI cards.

I'll probably call this in as a bug on Monday, but I'd be curious to hear
if anyone else has seen this, and especially if they've solved it!
Unfortunately, dropping back to a non-V.90 ComOS isn't really an option;
the people who are beta testing the PM3 would howl if the V.90 support was
yanked, though we may have to do that before it all goes live to the whole
customer base unless there's a new beta before then that's less problematic.
(No, that's not a slam, or even a poke - I know it's beta code, and am willing
to wait. I would, however, be in the crowd that would appreciate the
occasional "here's what we're working on now" update.)
