I've had just the opposite experience. For example, I had a customer
with a POS LT WinModem that could not connect to anyone _at all_ from
his house (bad lines). I went out to my car and got my Zoom external
and hooked it up. Although it got through every time, the most it
could do was 26.4, but content from the Web *FLEW* onto the screen. I
used to work from home over a 28.8 modem that usually got 26.4 and it
was never that quick.
