I have an OR-ST dialing into a large ISP using PAP. After it has been
authorized the remote end sends a CCP_CONFIGURE_REQUEST which the OR-ST
sometimes accepts. This is despite the fact that the location (and the
ports for what it is worth) have STAC disabled.
If STAC is enabled the connection breaks down with repeated
Received LCP_PROTOCOL_REJECT on port ...
packets of various sizes. I have no control over the remote end so the
easiest thing (I thought!) is to reject STAC.
The "sometimes accepts" depends on the form of the CCP_CONFIGURE_REQUEST.
The OR-ST rejects packets of this form:
Received CCP_CONFIGURE_REQUEST on port S1 of 6 bytes containing:
01 01 00 0A 11 06 00 01 01 03
Packet Info: Code: 01, ID: 01, 10 bytes.

but accepts them when they come in this form:

Compression type=Stac Electronics LZS [0x11] length: (5 bytes)
Padding Protocol [0x000103]
I think the difference depends on what type of kit answers the call: this
is a large ISP with a range of equipment (but no Livingstons yet).
Has anybody got any idea what I can do to stop the OR-ST from accepting
the STAC request?
