(PM) Modem Connect Problem

I have a user that has a K56Flex modem that connected at 40000 when we were
running COMos 3.7.2c3 on a PM3. However, when we upgraded to 3.8b15 he can
not
connect any higher than 24000 (Before I told him about the comma trick
after the number, he was connecting at 9600).

The modem is an Amjet (model V1456VQH-R) which has the Rockwell chipset. I
advised him not to upgrade to the v.90 since COMos 3.8b15 does not support
Rockwell v.90 connections.

I did some research on his modem and this is what they have on their
support page:

Got this from the modem manufacturer:

J-Mark Computer Corp.

When will the V.90 upgrade be available?

There will be a proprietary V.90 firmware available for our Texas
Instruments, Rockwell, and Lucent chipsets during May of 1998
(projected). Each of the above chipsets has its own V.90 firmware and
will not work interchangeably. However, a standard V.90 firmware for
all three chipsets will be available sometimes in September of 1998
(projected).

You can either try to upgrade your modem with a proprietary V.90 in May
or wait for a standard V.90 projected in September. It's a very good
idea to wait until everything settled down. By that time, most of the
ISP (Internet Service Provider) should be ready and have a final
standard V.90 implemented.

Any ideas on how we can get this user connecting at 40000 or higher again?
He is a NASA employee and apparently they did an upgrade about the same
time we did. He says they upgraded also and he gets the same results with
them.

Any help is highly appreciated.
