(PM) Win95 DNS problem fixed check it out

Well for those of you out there who are interested this was
a fun one.

Packard bell computer computer that would not resolve dns
when dialed into our server but could ping IP address and
pull up web pages with IP address.

Here is the fix

We had this - only on the newest Packard Bells. After
talking to Packard
Bell Support, this fixes it: In \windows\win.ini
change: run=c:\fmedia\fmedia.exe to: run= and reboot.
apparently the phone/fax program messes it up. For the life
of me I can't
figure how it would ONLY mess up DNS... but hey, when it
works, I don't
have time to ask too many questions.

This fixed it and worked perfectly after about 3 hours of
trying everything from
reinstalling dialup networking to reinstalling packard bells
win95 version.

Who would have guessed. Thank god for the internet and
search
engines as I found this fix by searching under yahoo with
the phrase
